Wandering Macau

“So I close
My eyes
To old ends
My heart to
New
Beginnings.”
Nick Frederickson

Macau is the first country that came to my mind when I think of the old and the new. It has a wonderful mixture of traditional temples, side streets, ruins as well as million dollar brand new casinos and restaurants.

Let me take you to some of the streets and architecture of Macau for Amy’s Lens Artist Photo Challenge – Wandering Macau

Macau was established and governed by Portugal between 1554 and 1557 and given back to China in 1999. It is just about an hour from Hong Kong.

Wandering its cobbled stone streets, it is still very evident of the presence of both the Portuguese and Chinese cultures.

And did I mention Portuguese tarts are abundant? Oh how I love these yum yum yum

On the opposite side is where all the new casinos and restaurants are located. With amazing light shows, dancing fountains and each casino showing off its best colours… they all looked stunning.

Beautiful travelogue of a place I’ve not been Teresa. I suppose we should have gone when we were in SE Asia, or China. So much to see so little time! Thanks for the visual feast.

Thanks for the visit. But that is usually the case when we travel, the indecision of which places to prioritise. If only we can go everywhere in one go haha

Wow, this looks spectacular. From the photos I’d say a city of contrasts between old and modern. Great shots.

Wow! Superb photos. That is some MODERN architecture! And a Wynn casino, likely with dancing fountains like the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
