Mural from London

“I laugh at the way some people think graffiti is all selfish tagging and vandalism. Thoughtful street art is like good fiction, it speaks out on behalf of everyone, for us all to see.” – Carla H. Krueger

I haven’t taken photos of street art for a long time since the lockdown, then this was sent to me by my son. He just got a new bike so that he would not have to take the tube going to work anymore (but at the moment he is still working from home). I am happy for that decision of his, because cases of Covid-19 is still getting worse in the UK. On the weekend when the weather was great in London, Tim and his wife, Leigh, went out to enjoy the weather.

This is for Sami’s Monday Murals Challenge – Murals from London

  1. Nice mural, and very thought-provoking quote. The problem is that some graffiti and tagging IS vandalism, and in fact some taggers don’t even see themselves as producers of art, they have other motives. Cities and towns where appropriate spaces (like bridge supports and public retaining walls) are made available to mural artists of all types have provided good art for the public and also offered a place for the artistic graffiti makers. Can’t do much about some taggers, though.

  2. This is a collaborative piece. The artist who did the 2 birds on the right is called ‘Thisone’ – one of London’s most prolific artists with a very distinct style. I don’t know who did the work on the left of the piece. Unfortunately ‘Thisone’ hasn’t posted the work on either his instagram or facebook pages so the name of his fellow artist remains a mystery! Nice work though.
