Christmas in July

“Christmas isn’t a Season, it’s a Feeling.” – Edna Ferber

No better country to celebrate “Christmas in July” than in Australia. Growing up, although I was born and raised in the Philippines, my idea of Christmas is snow covered rooftops, reindeers and Santa Claus. But here I am, in Australia and Christmas is Beach hats, sunnies and Santa wearing printed shorts.

This is a building in Melbourne CBD which is the former General Post Office of Victoria, known as the GPO. It is now a shopping centre and before pandemic was a bustling area with cafes, shops and buskers on its doorsteps. I have taken photos of this location at different times with different lighting at different occasions and I think the best one of them is the one with the Yuletide decor.

  1. Love the Christmas in July theme here! Very festive! Like you, I see Christmas of snow, reindeers and Santa Claus bustling in his thick red suit. Florida is much the same. Santa is riding a wave on his surfboard in Bermuda shorts with “Wipeout” playing in the background. Later, he is sitting at a pub with a fruity drink in his hand featuring a little umbrella! ๐Ÿ™‚
