We Did it Melbourne

“But without darkness, we would never know the warmth of light.” – unknown

It is a joyous day for us Melburnians, as we have long been waiting for this moment to come. Premier Daniel Andrews announced the state’s reopening from midnight tonight. And further easing of rules to be announced on the 8th of November.

I know that this is good news, but my 62 year old me is feeling trapped. I had been used to lockdown rules for the past 7 months where I can just go to my usual friendly wetlands. I go to my local supermarket on Mondays to buy the week’s supplies and do my exercise online. I chat with friends and family online… So now you tell me that I change all that in an instant?
I know it is hard but I will try **wink wink

These are some windows and street art when I did my last walk about before lockdown… back in March of 2020 in Acland Street, Melbourne. Seems like ages ago.

By the way, Happy, happy Birthday to Arlene …a friend that I met through blogging! Enjoy your special day though it is just a simple celebration!

  1. It’s great to hear things are easing for you a bit. I have a friend in Melbourne and I know how tough it has been there. It may feel strange at first but make sure you get out there and enjoy it while you can. We had a considerable easing during our summer, but things have been getting worse again here in the last couple of months, with cases rising, so we’re back into a form of lockdown, albeit less strict (for now).

      1. I know things have been especially tough there, but I have to say I envy you having Christmas in the summer. Normally that seems an odd concept to us Brits, but with all the restrictions we currently have on people meeting indoors everyone is worrying about whether they’ll be able to spend Christmas with their families. Now if only we could meet in gardens or on the beach it would be easier!
