Doors Open Up

“Open the door…it may lead you to some place you never expected…” – unknown

Another sculpture piece at the Pt Leo Sculpture Park in Red Hill, Victoria.

This is called Dreams of Ordinary People (2010) made of cast iron/steel and is a sculpture of Peter Tilley, an Australian born sculptor.

Here, the the featureless human figure is standing at an opened up doorway and seems hesitant to proceed to the unknown…or to the future?

I love this kind of thing! You can read the expression on that face even though there isn’t one! 🙂 🙂 And then the bath!

Intriguing. My first take on that bath (?) was that it was coffin shaped. I love such ambiguity.

This is a wonderful sculpture. It seems to convey the hesitation we feel at an unknown entry (or perhaps an exit). The quote is appropriate. Thanks for bringing a bit of culture to us for Thursday Doors.

My pleasure Dan. It’s amazing that we can feel something, although the face is expressionless.

The position of both the door and the person may evoke different reactions – a perfect artwork…with a door. What a find, Teresa! Jesh

I wonder if at any time during the day the statue’s shadow reflects in the pool?

Very interesting sculpture. Love the green grass with the path. It’s almost like they are stepping out of their home and have that view. 🙂
