“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” – Lao Tzu
I should have been in my home town now if it had not been for the pandemic.
I miss my place of birth.
… my family and friends back home.
… speaking in my native tongue.
… eating my native food.
… having cheap massages
… touring the islands near and far
Here are some steps from my mother land. Photos from Ilocos and Taal in the Philippines.

Such a shame you are unable to visit your home town 😢 These B&W photos of steps are very effective!

Thanks Sarah. And yes, it has been a long time. I was supposed to visit in 2017 for my nephew’s wedding but didn’t push through because I had my stroke. Then this year again. Hopefully soon!

Some of the steps are quite steep!

Yes it is and I don’t know if I could still climb them now.

I could identify the cheap massage, Teresa. Luckily, the ‘Chinatown’ 25 miles away still has such an offer!

Same feels. In the Philippines I can have a massage any time I feel like it…here in Melbourne I still have to think twice if I really need it haha

I know, Teresa. The regular massage is about $1 per minute, but in the Asian community, it’s $20 to $30 an hour. I sometimes have it when I go there.

Very nice pics. I especially like the first pic with the very old looking stairs and the very modern windmill. It must be so hard not to be able to get home.

Thanks for the lovely comment. I know it is hard…but we will get there in time!
