Going Around the City

“There was nowhere to go but everywhere.” – Jack Kerouac

It is almost winter so Jack and I took this opportunity to go everywhere this weekend. We decided to take the train to the city just to be different. But wrong move… the trains were not running direct from our place so we had to take bus replacements and train changes. But what is irritating is the signs were very clear that masks should be worn when travelling but it’s either people can’t read or they just don’t want to follow rules.

For Jo’s Monday Walk the first part of the agenda is brunch at a Filipino fusion restaurant that we haven’t been to before.

There were buildings and windows old and new in Melbourne. For Ludwig’s Monday Windows Challenge

And churches…

And of course a walk in Melbourne won’t be complete without passing the Street arts of Hosier Lane which is at the very centre of the city. For Sami’s Monday Mural i am featuring the Marilyn Munro streetart that’s coloured blue.

It is so sad to see a homeless person making this his home especially as winter is just around the corner.

I visit the laneways of Melbourne every time I go to the city because I am interested to find out if there are new art works painted on its walls. Sure enough the old ones were already painted over. For Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge, here are the graffitied doors of Hosier Lane.

Some colourful street signs and colourful chairs to match for Xingfumama’s Pull Up a Seat Challenge

To end the day… some drinks and nachos before heading back home.

  4. You found a plethora of things to see on your walk. I love the architecture, but of course, I came to see the beautiful murals. Too bad Marilyn has been tagged and even sadder about the homeless person.

Thanks for stopping by. This lane is a place for the artists to paint and in a few weeks or maybe even just days some other people will paint over it again…so that is to be expected.

But the sad thing is I agree with you…the homeless person.

Looks like you had a great day, in spite of hiccups, Teresa. 🙂 🙂 People not wearing masks are simply not allowed on our public transport. The driver or ticket inspector would ask them to wear the mask or get off. A terrible thing to see people sleeping on the streets.
    Many thanks for sharing, hon!

We didn’t have any new covid cases for a long time so people are being complacent. But just today there suddenly was 4 new cases. I went to the city on the weekend so best idea is to have a covid test tomorrow. Fingers crossed everything will be good for me and hubby!

My pleasure sharing my walk, Jo!

I heard about the 4 infected people. Hope it doesn’t spread and you can go back to normal again.
You found some wonderful things on your outing to the city. Love the Marilyn mural.
Sad about the homeless now that winter is coming. We also see a few in Perth’s city centre.
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Teresa.

We haven’t had any cases for a long while that is why they thought that we are already safe but we aren’t sure of that. Anyway…happy that you liked my murals,Sami. Have a great week.

What colourful photographs! Very enjoyable post to read on a grey, drizzley day here, so thank you. As regards to masks, we have the same idiotic people here and when I asked the bus driver one day last week to make an announcement over the tannoy about mask-wearing he said he was fed-up doing it and being ignored.

Great post! You got some great buildings. And Hosier Lane is a treasure. I didn’t realize murals get painted over for fresh ones. An ongoing feast for the eyes🙂

Thanks for visiting Pat. Oh yes, this particular area is a place for artists to express their art so it changes very easily.

Beautiful architecture, windows and doors, fun doors and good looking food. There’s lots to like here. As for the people ignoring the mask rule, I guess it’s just something we have to expect. I don’t understand…

I don’t understand too, Dan. But now we are in a 7 day lock down, all of us have to wear masks again everywhere and not just in public transport. Be safe ❤️
