Church in Thornbury

“Seek the fountain from within yourself.” – Rumi

For Photographing Public Art Challenge

This is the Reconciliation Fountain by Glenn Romanis, a renowned Aboriginal artist. This can be seen outside the St Mary’s Church in Thornbury. The fountain tells how water came back to the land after a long drought by making the frog that had swallowed all of the water, laugh.

These are the gates at the side of the church. I think it is also a school, hence the kids public art.

Gorgeous artwork on so many levels. The fountain art is intricate yet simple, almost child-like. The children are adorable, though behind bars – at least from your perspective! That church is so beautiful. The white arches against the dark red brick make it an amazing piece of art, too. 🙂 Fabulous find, Teresa!

It reminds me of an Armenian church in CA.
