Doors and Public Art in Rye

“Unusual doors often take you to the unusual worlds!” – Mehmet Murat Ildan

Rye is a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. I and my hubby are on a few days break and I was surprised to see so many doors and public art in the main town.

“Fire and Ice” themed mural done by td_illustrations

This iconic Fisherman mural was created by French artist Michael Husser in 2015 while undertaking an artist residency at Police Point Shire Park.

The next five are from the Vulcano Gelato corner shop.

Thanks Dan. Everywhere I go, I am always on the lookout for doors, murals, chairs and windows. My husband just rolls
his eyes whenever I stop to take a photo 😂

Beautiful murals! We have a Rye in England that is also close to the sea but very different in other ways – very historic and quaint 🙂

Yup, my son visited Rye in the UK and he loved it. I
Have been to this Rye several
times in the past but it is the first time that I noticed the many murals and public art they have. Thanks for the comment Sarah. ❤️

Teresa, the photo on the fence that you chose as your cover shot is so gorgeous. The colors pop against that new wood fence. The others are lovely, too, but that one grabbed me!

Thanks, glad you liked that one as well. It is just a pity that it is located at the back of the property so I don’t know if many people notice it.

Maybe they will now. Do you have much of a following in Melbourne? I don’t in Prescott, but I do have some friends in other parts of AZ.

I do have some but Australia is such a big place so it is not a place to easily get to 🤷🏻‍♀️

True that, I was thinking within the city, actually. Melbourne is a big place. Leanne Cole is near there but I don’t know any others.

Beautiful murals, Teresa. Thank you for sharing them with us. I looked up TD Illustrations and learned more about the artist and his projects. The Rye Ice cream shop artwork glows at night under UV lights.
