This is a site of rich European history, identified by the heritage listed Cape Schanck Lighthouse precinct. The Lighthouse was built in 1859 as the second coastal lighthouse in the Australian state of Victoria. It is located on Cape Schanck, at the southernmost tip of the Mornington Peninsula.

These are the Lightkeeper’s Quarters

Then we proceeded to go to one of the many walking tracks of the national park. For Jo’s Monday Walk

Every turn offers stunning landscape, dramatic volcanic features, unspoilt and wild beaches and scenic walking tracks with spectacular ocean views. For Jez’s Water Water Everywhere

We chose this track which was supposed to be an easy walk. We went on boardwalk, and coastal paths, including many steps, going up and down one step at a time!

Also found some beautiful rock formations along the way.

At last…we reached the bottom and this was the beautiful view that’s filled with boulders, rocks and dark coloured stones.

Upon reaching the very bottom, there was nowhere else to go but back up.

Beautiful images, love the boardwalks heading down to the sea. The lighthouse looks a little like the one that used to be on a kids show called ‘Round the Twist’!

That looks an excellent walk, even if there are a lot of stairs! I love that sort of dramatic coastline – so much to see and photograph!
