A favourite picnic spot in the Yarra Valley is Badger Weir Picnic Grounds, located about 7km from Healesville township.
We went there a week ago to celebrate the birthday of our friend, Gary. Our day started with lunch of course.
Here are some local resident birdlife, the Crimson Rosella. They were such friendly birds and not afraid of people… they literally were eating off our hands.
After linch we went on a beautiful and easy walk along Badger Creek, in a lush forest filled with majestically tall Mountain Ash and ferns.
The sound that the creek was ust magical!
The walk takes half an hour return it says. But guess what, it took us an hour with all the stopping and taking of photos haha
It is a wonderful feeling being surrounded by these tall trees.
First time inserting a video on my blog, I do hope it works.
The weir itself was constructed in 1929, and is a water catchment area for Melbourne.
Oh noooooo Jurassic Park has invaded! Haha Some little child may be looking for this at this moment!
On the way back to the clearing of the picnic grounds.
We ended the day with a cake for the birthday boy!

This couldn’t be more different from Prague, could it, Teresa? Lovely to be surrounded by nature like this. The video is great, and oh, my- that’s rather a fabulous cake!

Wonderful spot, I would have believed that prehistoric animals would still live there 😉
