A walk around Lake Daylesford

“Perhaps the truth depends on a walk around the lake.” – Wallace Stevens

I never get tired of Daylesford. Although I have been there a couple of times before, I still enjoy the peacefulness of its lake. But what more this time around when I have my whole family with me.

On one side was an even called Borealis but we opted on not going since this was still a night event. So we decided to walk the other way.

We started off our walk at the Lakehouse.

With gorgeous flowers on the side of the paths…

Sat on these benches to see some colourful ducks paddling away.

Relaxing by the picturesque Lake Daylesford. This is a scenic man-made lake completed in 1930 and has a restaurant, picnic areas and foot trails.

I don’t know if this is a private residence or a restaurant, but loved the native flowers on the foreground.

This is new…. Some lovers have decided on putting love locks.

A view of the lakehouse from the opposite side.

Crossing a wooden bridge.

Some information and history:

Mining industry stripped the Wombat Creek Valley of its vegetation and created a scarred landscape. An effort to form a reservoir or lake in the 1890’s persisted until late 1920’s when a dam wall was built across the creek to form the present ornamental lake…

Can’t resist taking some photos for the memories.

A cute little puppy happily playing around.

On the end of our walk, I saw this Chinese Pavilion.

So that was our more than an hour’s walk approximately which included stops and picture takings.

I particularly like locks on bridges… but I guess some people are not for it.
