After having a hearty lunch for Mother’s Day, fam and I went to the Abbotsford Convent to spend the rest of the day walking and talking about what has gone by during the past weeks that we didn’t see each other.
With lush gardens, the Abbotsford Convent is a slice of the country, an art haven, a botanical park all rolled into one.

First thing we saw was this huge tree which was so pretty with all its autumn leaves.

Always attracted to owls… here is an art on the window of the first building

Here are some artistic endeavours of student artists, I am guessing.

Windows on one side of the convent.

Walking past the gardens are these pretty pink and purplish flowers.

Lots of outdoor spaces where we sat and had a bit of a nap under the shade of the old tree haha. There were many of us doing just that.

Went inside the convent building and saw these huge windows on one side of the corridor.

And art works inspired by the nuns who founded the convent and an array of locally produced fabrics on the opposite side.

Autumn at the convent

Today, the Convent is home to over 100 studios, two galleries, cafes, a radio station, a school, and an abundance of green open space.

There are surprise art pieces sprouting out in unexpected places. Like this one at the back of the restaurant kitchen.

On the grounds is the Good Shepherd Chapel. What amazing stained glass windows. It would have been better to see it against the light but unfortunately the doors were closed.
You can click on the image to enlarge it.

Exiting the grounds to the parking lot is this sculpture.

Teresa, Thank you for your PPAC contribution. That convent looks like a lovely place to explore. The architecture, murals and sculptures are beautiful and interesting. I also like that the convent has been repurposed and put to good use for the community and small businesses.
